I first saw Bella when she came as a schooling horse prospect for
Borderland Farm in November of 2003. I was the first one to ride her,
and saw she had a lot of potential. She was just drop dead
gorgeous....so that was awesome. At the time Bella was 4 years old.
Ms. Martin, the owner of Borderland Farm, told me that I would be the
only one riding her for a while, and I really wanted to try to get her for
myself. I talked to my mom, and she saw Bella and fell in love with her as
well. We talked to Ms. Martin to see if I would be able to test her for
myself, and she agreed that we were a good pair and said that she
would most certainly let me have her.
After a month of trying her out my mom and dad told me that she
would be my Christmas gift!!
Bella's background: Her name when I got her was "Marina Girl" - which
we changed as soon as I got ownership of her. She raced and had 13
starts...she didn't do too well at all - only managed to rack up a few
hundred dollars. She then did a bit of polo, but didn't succeed in that
either. So she went to Excellar Farm, in the care of Michele Oren.
Bella Now: Bella and I are starting to do eventing. What drew me to that
was because I saw that she loved jumping and cross country. She
moved really well so I knew she could do dressage with a bit of work.
We've done our first event and received 2nd out of 7 which I was rather
happy with.

Update:
Unfortunately, Bella had to be put down on Wednesday, February 2,
2005, due to a leg injury. Sarah has recently adopted another
thoroughbred from Excellar Farm. Her name is Fiona, and the pair
recently won a 1st place ribbon at their first combined test.
Right: Sarah and Bella at Borderland Farm.
Below: Bella being cute at Whisper Wind Farm.
